Unday 17s Through To The 1/4 Finals - 17th May 2008
A damp grey evening saw Isham U-17's entertain raunds U-17's in the first round of the Higham Cup.Electing to field Isham opened with the skipper A.Brown and U-15 representative J.Claypole, combining a mixture of success and failure with the ball. The introduction of E.Haynes and A.White however regained a grip on the game , with Elliot bowling extremely well in his 4 overs only conceding 9 runs and picking up two wickets ( both quality catches by D.Parmar and E.Leach ) .Another wicket fell to A.White who also ran out their opener with a good bit of fielding in the gully.Tidy overs from N.Waring and a quick burst by D.Conyard saw the Raunds team amass 115 in their 18 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Isham began with the usual pairing of A.Waring and A.White but were soon in trouble having lost both for only 6 and 9 respectively.A.Brown came in at three for a quick 13 before he succumbed to what can only be described as a "loose shot".This brought together the duo of E.Leach(U-17) and D.Conyard(U-15) who between them with some superb shots, excellent running and a confident swagger dispatched the raunds attack to all parts.....Elliot being not out on 36 and Damion not out on 37. The total was passed with a fluent on drive from Damion which secures us a home tie in the next round against Finedon (June 12)

The squad now has a weeks grace before an away trip to Irthlingborough in the league.

A good effort by the team where everyone made a contribution. Well done !!

Poddington - 115 for 4 (18 overs)
Isham - 118 for 3 (16.4 overs)

Under 17s Start The Season Slowly - 29th April 2008
The 2008 U-17 season started with a home clash against Poddington.A.White and E.Hayes opened the bowling attack and restricted the visitors to 17 for 1 off the first 6 overs. The next 6 overs saw poddington push the run rate up to 50 still with only 1 wicket down. With some wayward bowling and "basic" errors creeping into the field , coupled with J.Waterfield dispatching the ball to all parts and taking the attack to Isham we let slip our initial control leaving the visitors a respectful 102 for 1.

A.Waring and A.White began the run chase and after our first 6 overs we were 27 without loss.Unfortunately the next 6 overs yielded 4 wickets for poddington as isham lost A.Waring (32),A.White (11),R.Patel (0) and D.Conyard (7).All was not lost as we were still 13 runs ahead at this stage compared to Poddington.A quick flurry by A.Brown (17) and E.Leach (20) left us with 9 off the last over.As the gloom descended  the batsmen tried in vain to get the winning runs but just came up short by 6 runs.

Poddington - 102 for 1 (16 overs)
Isham - 97 for 6 (16 overs)

Under 11s Bow Out Of Cup - 17th August 2007
Isham Under 11s season has finished with a loss in the cup. Playing with only seven lads we put on a reasonable total 246 to bowl at, however fielding with one short there were too many gaps and Higham Ferrers won with their total at 269.

The season on a whole ended with two victories in the league in which was a difficult season for us. We had a limited number in the squad and it was always going to be a transitional season. That said we have seen a number of good 9 and 10 year olds for next year and the nucleus of the team is already in place.

I would like to thank the following people for their help, Jackie for her excellent catering, Alison for scoring every week, Sam for his help with coaching and umpiring, Adam for his help when I went away. JB for giving me a shoulder to weep on. To all the parents for ferrying their sons too and from matches and above all the boys for never giving up.
Thank you and well done.
Mike.

Under 17s Finally Get Going - 27th May 2007
After the rain playing a rather large part in the Under 17s results, manager Dave Hobbs was delighted to finally get a result for his Under 17s side. At home to Finedon, Isham gained a first win of the season against a strong away side. Bowling first it was the awesome pace of Jack Chopping that gave the visitors the most trouble. Jack also featured in the run chase, along with Chris Perkins who's jug avoidence tactics were spotted by all - Chris falling at 48.

Full report available on the Under 17 page.

Words From The "Prince" - 3rd August 2006
I would like to express my many thanks to all the youngsters at Isham that have helped fulfil the
U-17 fixture list this year, the total of players used actually came to 25! As I only had a squad of
15 bonafide U-17's the support from the other 3 age groups has been fantastic especially from the
U-15's. A big pat on the backs to all my other managerial colleagues aswell for aiding me in player
support and transportation....A.K.A Jeeves Bilson who ferried our "overseas" from Rushden, T.Firm
to and from games. Several of our players will be leaving the squad as it was their last year in this
age range and we hope they go on to bigger and better things into the "adult" world of cricket and
hopefully we will see some of them over the next few years appearing in some format or another
representing Isham.I also look forward to meeting the next crop of youngsters that will be stepping
up from the 15's to the "big boys" league as we have several exciting prospects coming thru and
plenty of talent on show. During the course of the season we have had a reasonably year resulting
in a semi-final appearance and only losing 4 times in the league. We defeated 8 teams in the league
and some notable ones were the 10 wicket win against Wellingborough Town, posting a first innings
total of 192 against Earl's Barton and our last game against Great Oakley with a very scratch side
indeed!

Thanks again to everyone that has helped and here's to a great 2007.

Dave Hobbs
