Isham 2nd XI vs Old Northamptonians 4th XI - 12th August 2006
A disappointing home performance against Old Northamptonians severely dented any promotion
chances that Isham's 2nd XI may have hoped for. With a strengthened side which included Tim
Robinson and the return of Tim Norton, Isham were confident of getting a large haul of points. But
after losing the toss and being put into bat first, the home side found themselves in trouble early
on with the top 8 batsman only scoring 44 runs between them!
A stand between Dave Barlow and Pete Wills helped to use up the overs if nothing else but the
inevitable happened as the last wickets were eventually cleaned up by the ONs. Isham bowled out
for a meagre 82.
With nothing to lose, attack was the order of the day and Sunil Sukdheo made an immediate impact
taking a wicket in his first over. He continued his good form taking a second shortly after, and with
support from both Jim Lyon and Pete Wills at the other end, the visitors were making hard work of a
relatively easy score.
Some lightening work behind the stumps from T. Robinson and a third wicket for Sunil took the score
to 71 for 7 – Isham requiring just 3 more wickets, ON’s just 12 more runs. It was to be the visitors
who ran out eventual winner with N. Battison and Jordan Capel holding their nerve and took ON’s
over the finish line.
