Isham 1st XI vs Great Oakley 1st XI - 5th August 2006 An impressive win against Great Oakley followed up the gritty performance against Wollaston the week before from Isham’s 1st XI. It was also a weekend where a little piece of history was made when Juan Harker eclipsed Stephen Fleming’s 13 year record for the highest individual batting score on a Saturday. Juan’s 152 from just 103 balls was full of immaculate strokes and devastating blows! His innings included 16 fours and 8 huge sixes. Whilst at the other end, Kalvin Lodder chipped in with a just as superb 73 not out. With such devastating batting, Isham had the luxury of declaring at 47 overs, with a mammoth score of 286 for 4 on the board. Great Oakley were hampered somewhat with the loss of several key players and it didn’t take long for the Isham bowlers to exploit the weakened batting attack. Nilesh Patel removed both openers without much trouble and managed to pick up two wickets later on to end with figures of 4 for 25. Whilst at the other end Andy Law was very economical with his bowling, 11 overs, 3 wickets for just 22. None of the Great Oakley batsman managed to get started with Alan York top scoring with just 12. The job was wrapped up by golden boy Juan Harker - he took the final Great Oakley wicket with the final ball of his first over. Great Oakley miserable afternoon came to a conclusion after just 23 overs – they were bowled out for just 59.
