Long Sutton CC vs Isham Sunday XI - 6th May 2007
A first ever meeting between the two club ended in victory for Long Sutton as their comfortably chased down Isham’s poor score of 132. Skipper Kalvin Lodder top scoring with 54 appeared very comfortable on a superb batting track that offered plenty of runs. But a dubious LBW decision went against him and signalled the collapsed of Isham’s innings. Chris Perkins was the only other batsman to score over 10.
In the field, Isham faired no better with last week’s super star Richard Danks failing to make an impact and Sunil Sukhdeo not having much luck with edges flying past both slip fielders. Paul Eaton and Sunil both took a wicket to give Isham their only bowling point. And with only 30 runs required for victory, the Long Sutton batsmen hurried the pace and took a liking to the Isham spinners.
The Sunday XI will have to play much much better to keep their excellent Rutland League record going. Next weekend sees Higham Ferrers take the short trip to Orlingbury Road. |
