Kettering CC vs Isham 1st XI - 30th June 2007
Isham made the short visit to Kettering to take on a side who had only won one game in their last 8 outings. The rain stopped very rarely stopped but both teams fancied a game. Batting first Kettering arguably had the better of the conditions with the outfield at its quickest and the ball coming onto the bat better. But Andy Law and Nilesh Patel grafted away taking two wickets a piece. Chris Fuller (64) proved a thorn in Isham’s side before being ran out by Chris Perkins. Jeremy Lines (23) and Vijay Sisodia (29) added to Kettering’s score as the home side reached 186 for 9 from their 46 overs. Isham’s overseas Agha Sabir proving deadly with the ball, finishing with 3 for 45 from his allotted 11 overs.
As the rain continued to pour down the teams left the field and tea was taken. Play resumed with Isham only having 35 overs to reach the required 187. The chase didn’t start too well for the visitors, with Ben Reid falling for 0 – his second duck of the season. Agha soon followed, falling for just 3 runs and Kettering’s tails were well and truly up. But Dogged determination from Richard Reynolds (21) and an array of shots/slogs from Tim Robinson put Isham back on track. Tim was finally out for 92 but it could have been very different if Kettering held on to one of the two chances given to them when Tim was in single figures.
The platform had been set but the work was still needed to make the game go tot he wire. Will Chudley smashed 34 whilst Tim Orsborn remained to the end with 28, giving Isham their 2nd win of the campaign with 2.3 overs to spare. |
