East Carlton vs Isham Sunday XI - 30th July 2006
Isham Sunday XI continued their charge to the top of the table by bludgeoning a young East Carlton
side in the Rutland League. The match (according to Mark Reynoldson’s watch) lasted just 2 hours 34
minutes but even more surprising was the “bowling” performance of Mark Bolar. Fielding first, Isham
put the pressure on immediately – it took just 3 balls for J. Harker to claim the first wicket. From that
point on wickets fell at regular intervals with Juan taking a second, and N. Patel taking a deserved
wicket in his 6th over.
With East Carlton struggling at 23-3, Mark Bolar was brought into the attack
and began his
onslaught
- taking a wicket in every over he bowled. His final figures of 4.3 overs, 1
maiden, 5
wickets for 6 runs have not only helped his averages, but also propelled him up the fantasy
league!
Paul Butlin also came into the bowling attack near the end and cleared up the final two wickets,
East Carlton bowled out for 64.
With P. Short surplus to requirements in the bowling department, he and A. Reynoldson opened the
batting for Isham. The inevitable happened in the 5th over with Shorty attempting (and failing) to hook
the opening bowling and instead edging the ball to the keeper. This brought in D. Lambert, who along
with Andy hit some monstrous blows around the park. The tiny target set by East Carlton was reached
in the 17th over, Andy Reynoldson unbeaten with 34.
